Scientific limitations

OpenEmotions™ v0.1 is an editorial knowledge model. It is not an authoritative taxonomy or a real-time emotion engine. Seed descriptions and associations have not been presented as expert-reviewed or research-supported.

This is not a clinical diagnostic system, mental-health advice, a personality test, a deterministic behavior predictor, proof of consciousness, or proof of sentience. It must not be used by itself for high-stakes individual decisions.

An event is not equivalent to an emotion. Triggers can be interpreted differently, and emotions do not dictate actions. People do not universally progress through the same sequence. Co-occurrence and mixed experience are possible. Culture, development, language, goals, prior experience, relationships and current circumstances can change interpretation and expression.

English terminology does not establish cross-cultural equivalence. Nulls mark knowledge not supplied, not a demonstrated absence of a phenomenon. Qualitative dimensions in the seed are editorial descriptors, not measured population averages. Relative intensity words do not imply universal ladders. No universal durations, probabilities or numerical scientific scores have been invented.

Evidence for one relationship does not validate an entire record. Review status and credential verification do not eliminate methodological limitations or disagreement. Applications need independent validation appropriate to their purpose, population and setting. Artificial agents using these records are modelling affective concepts; that does not establish experience of emotion.
